A singer’s portrait: A Photoshoot in Dun Laoghaire

At the end of last year, I had the chance to photograph Viviane Belchir, a gospel singer getting ready to launch her first single. She wanted professional photos to introduce herself as an artist, and I was happy to help bring her vision to life. This is how I created personal branding portraits for this amazing singer!

Why Planning Matters in Branding Photography

Before the session, we had a consultation call. It was actually more like an exchange through voice messages since she was very busy during the day to have a call. I try to adapt and accommodate as much as possible for my clients. This step is really important in branding photography. It helps define the style, mood, and purpose of the images. It also makes the shoot easier and more relaxed because we already know what we’re aiming for. Viviane and I talked about what she wanted to express and how these photos would help shape her image as a singer. She gave me some musical references of her own, it was a fun process!

Creating the Right Look

For the first set, we wanted a performance feel, as if she was on stage. I adjusted the lights to create that concert vibe. The results were amazing, and we were both really happy.

Next, we went for a bold and colorful look—something that showed energy, confidence, and devotion. These shots were sharp, full of life, and reflected her personality.

For the final set, we kept it soft and calm. She used her prayer book as a prop, which gave the images a peaceful, meditative feel.

More Than Just Photos
